Living at our Channelside apartments puts you in the center of all the action. Only moments away from Tampa Bay Riverwalk and many great venues, you will love living at The Slade at Channelside. The Tampa Bay Riverwalk runs through the Channelside area specifically near the Channelside Bay Plaza. The Riverwalk is filled to capacity with great shops, venues, parks, and museums. It is the one area in Tampa you can go to find art, culture, music, food, and fun for the entire family. The area consists of 2.4 miles of walkable trails (of course, we encourage biking as an option too!) along the Hillsborough River and Garrison Channel.
Experts say to begin your exploration at the south end of the Riverwalk. This area is where the mile marker system begins. Before you get started, you can view the Riverwall which showcases a collage of more than 550 photographs by Bruce Marsh. You should be familiar with this area because it is home to the famous Florida Aquarium, which you can see from your Channelside apartment! There are 7,000 aquatic animals and plants to see. Stop in to touch the stingrays and enjoy the various tropical wildlife!
After walking through the aquarium, you are probably starving! If you are absolutely famished, Columbia Café (the area’s oldest restaurant) may be exactly what you are looking for. If you are not that hungry, you can walk north on the trail, where you will come to The Sail Pavilion—the perfect place to enjoy cocktails and small plates in a family & pet friendly atmosphere. After enjoying a quick break for a snack, take the family on a water-bike ride or head up to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park for live performances on the high-tech outdoor stage.
As you continue up the trail, you’ll find the Tampa Museum of Art displays an eclectic collection of contemporary and classical artwork. There is free admission the fourth Friday of every month! The Glazer Children’s Museum may sound like this is something only children will enjoy, but we guarantee adults have fun here too. The next important site to see is the David A. Straz, Jr Center of Performing Arts center. This venue is the largest of its kind in the Southeastern United States and you can expect to see world-class entertainment ranging from Broadway shows to rock concerts.
